Paula Badosa returns to lead Spain in the BJKC Finals

MADRID, 13 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Catalan tennis player Paula Badosa leads Spain’s list for the Billie Jean King Cup Finals, which will be held at the José María Martín Carpena Pavilion in Málaga from 13 to 20 November, where she will face Poland in the round of 16.

The current world number 20, who arrives after reaching the quarter-finals at the last US Open, will be the leader of the Spanish team announced this Friday by captain Anabel Medina, who will also have the other four national players highest ranked in the ranking: Jessica Bouzas, Cristina Bucsa, Sara Sorribes and Nuria Párrizas.

The Catalan seems to have recovered her best form on the North American hard court tour, where she won the WTA 500 Washington title, reached the semi-finals of the WTA 1000 in Cincinnati and the aforementioned quarter-finals of the US Open.

These good feelings have helped her regain confidence and results after very difficult months due to back injuries and early eliminations from tournaments. Badosa is returning to competition for Spain, after giving up the Paris Olympic Games. Last year she was called up for the Finals, but did not compete in any matches.

Also arriving in high spirits is young Jessica Bouzas, who will make her debut in this competition after achieving her best result in a Grand Slam by reaching the round of 16 of the US Open at the age of 21, leaving very good feelings for the future and after reaching number 60 in the world, her best position in the ranking, which places her as the possible best bet to accompany Badosa in the singles.

To complete the team, Medina has called up recent Olympic doubles medallists Sara Sorribes and Cristina Bucsa, who have only lost one match as a pair and have already won the WTA 1000 in Madrid this year, making them the pair that could play the possible decisive point, and Granada’s Nuria Párrizas, ranked 94th in the world.
