Paula Badosa misses the Australian Open

MADRID, 14 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish tennis player Paula Badosa will not play the Australian Open, the first ‘Grand Slam’ of the season, after being injured during the quarterfinals of the Adelaide 2 tournament (Australia), a mishap that will keep her “stop for several weeks”.

“Bad news. During the quarterfinal match in Adelaide I hurt myself, and after the results of the tests I will have to be unemployed for several weeks. Sad to miss a tournament that I came to with great enthusiasm and desire. I am going to do everything in my power to return as soon as possible”, he confirmed on his social networks.

The Catalan, current number 11 in the world, could not play on Friday the semifinals of the oceanic contest, in the WTA 500 category and played on hard court, against the Russian Daria Kasatkina due to muscle discomfort in the groin.

In their quarterfinal duel, Badosa suffered after two and a half hours of fighting against the Brazilian Beatriz Hadda Maia. Now, the first ‘big’ of the course will be lost, which will not include the number one in the ATP ranking, Carlos Alcaraz from Murcia.
