Paula Badosa does not play the Adelaide 2 semifinals due to muscular discomfort

MADRID, 13 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish tennis player Paula Badosa could not reach the final of the Adelaide 2 tournament (Australia) this Friday, scoring for the WTA and which is played on hard court, after not even being able to play the semifinal against the Russian Daria Kasatkina due to muscular discomfort in the abductor.

The Catalan, ninth favourite, fought a tough “battle” in the quarterfinals against the Brazilian Beatriz Hadda Maia that lasted two and a half hours and left her physically “touched”, as she herself acknowledged when confirming her abandonment before attempting the pass to the final

“I am very disappointed to have to retire because I really wanted to play. Against Haddad Maia it was a very tough match, especially physical and I felt something in my groin. Today I feel a little worse, I have the Australian Open ahead of me and I hope I can recover”, warned Badosa in statements collected by the WTA website.

The Spaniard regretted the decision because she was playing “very good tennis, at a high level” and “mentally” she also felt “very good”. “I played three really good matches and I think that also helps my confidence for the next tournaments. Now it’s something I can’t control,” she stressed.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time here in Adelaide. I like playing here and in Australia, I always feel very comfortable starting the season here. I’m happy with my level and the way I started the year and I’m looking forward to next year.” rest of the season,” he said.
