MADRID, 14 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Spanish tennis player Paula Badosa has advanced to the round of 16 of the Rome tournament, in the WTA 1,000 category and played on clay, after beating the Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk (6-4, 6-2) this Sunday, and is now meeting with the Czech Karolina Muchova.
Despite starting the match at the Foro Italico down 2-0, the Catalan was able to neutralize the ‘break’ in the sixth game, although the world number 40 responded with a ‘counterbreak’. The one from Begur, however, took the sleeve by winning the last three games.
After winning her first serve of the first set, Badosa again broke her opponent’s serve and began an exchange of breaks that was interrupted in the seventh game, when she managed to defend her serve before closing the duel in one hour and 32 minutes with another break.
The Spaniard, who also reached the round of 16 at the Mutua Madrid Open, will now seek a ticket to the quarterfinals against the Czech Karolina Muchova, who also beat the Italian Camila Giorgi this Sunday in straight sets (7-6(4), 6 -2).
