MADRID, 31 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Joventut announced on Tuesday the renewal until 2026 of the veteran Spanish shooting guard Pau Ribas, whose contract ended on June 30 and which extends the link with the black-and-green team with a 2+1 contract.
Ribas grew up sportingly in the ‘Penya’ youth academy, a club he joined when he was only four years old and in whose first team he made his debut at the age of 18, in October 2005 and where he stayed until 2009, winning the FIBA EuroCup (2006), the King’s Cup in Vitoria (2008) and the ULEB Cup in Turin (2008). Later, in 2009 he left for Baskonia and also went through Valencia Basket and FC Barcelona before returning home in 2020.
“I am very happy, it is my third contract in Badalona and it is an important contract for me because there are not so many left. I am very happy with the trust that the club has placed in me,” Ribas celebrated on the Joventut website.
The world champion with the Spanish team in 2019 stressed that he returned “to help the team” and “to continue demonstrating the potential of the ‘Penya'”. “I think it has turned out better than I imagined when I arrived three years ago. We must try to ensure that the ‘Penya’ continue to climb as far as it deserves as a club and as history”, he stressed.
“I want to play as I have played all my life, contributing on the court. Obviously, time passes and the role changes, but I want to continue being myself, which is how I think I help the most. I want to continue contributing to the court with the role that the trainer considers. Carles Duran is an important reason so that I want to continue with what he wants of me, and to enjoy in the track”, sentenced.
