Párrizas conquers her third WTA 125 tournament in Canberra

MADRID, 6 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish tennis player Nuria Párrizas conquered the Canberra (Australia) tournament this Saturday, the third in the WTA 125 category, by defeating the British Harriet Dart in the final in two sets (6-4 and 6-3).

After lifting the trophies in Bastad (Sweden and clay) and Columbus (United States and indoor hard court) in 2021, when he debuted in the 'top 100', Párrizas debuted in 2024 with a title in Australia. A victory in Canberra that allows him to forget a 2023 marked by injuries and a fall in the ranking to 123rd place.

The Spaniard only lost one set on the way to the trophy, getting rid of Kamilla Rakhimova, Celine Naef and Clara Tauson, before beating Dart, world number 120, in the final. Parrizas Díaz connected on 68% of her first serves and won 73% of those points, also saving four of the five break points against her.

Dart noticed the fatigue, after needing three sets in three of the four matches she previously played, while the Grenadine was very forceful from the start. In the first set, she quickly took a 4-1 lead, an advantage that caused excessive relaxation, although it did not prevent her from closing the set 6-4.

In the second set, equality was the protagonist at the beginning, until in the fifth game Párrizas broke his rival twice, sealing his final victory by remaining. Now the head-to-head between the Spanish and the British is tied 2-2, with Párrizas rising to 107th in the ranking.
