Parrizas and Bucsa fall in the first round of Istanbul

The Spanish tennis players Nuria Parrizas-Díaz and Cristina Bucsa fell in the round of 32 of the WTA Tournament in Istanbul.

In the first round, two service losses by Parrizas-Díaz to one by Golubic were enough for the Swiss to take the first stake. In the third set, three breaks by the Swiss condemned the Spanish (3-6).

In the same way, the Spanish tennis player of Moldovan origin, Cristina Bucsa, number 169 in the ranking, lost her match against the Czech Katerina Siniakova, world number 69, in three sets (7-6, 3-6 and 6-3).

The first set had to be decided in a tie break thanks to a great performance by the Spanish, who finally saw how after going ahead up to two times that tiebreaker escaped her 7-5. In the second set, the Spanish was successful with her serve and managed to break that of her rival to win 3-6.

In the final sleeve both players were wrong with the serve and there were five service breaks, but it was finally the Czech who prevailed in the chaos to decide the match with a 6-3.

The 29-year-old tennis player Laura Arruabarrena is, therefore, the only Spanish representative left in the tournament. Tomorrow, she will face Belgian Elise Mertens and look for a place in the round of 16. In case of victory, she will face the Swiss Golubic, who eliminated Nuria Parrizas-Díaz.

Pavlyuchenkova-Potapova suspended

The quarterfinal match of the Istanbul tournament between Russia's sixth-seeded Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Anastasia Potapova was suspended due to rain, while the Chinese Quiang Wang (8) advanced to the quarterfinals by defeating the also Russian Anastasia Gasanova 6-4, 6-1 and 6-2.

Pavlyuchenkova and Potapova, 39th and 76th in the world, respectively, were forced to stop the match due to a downpour that began after two hours of play, when they had won a set each, both in the tie-break.

Quiang Wang, number 50 in the ranking, came back from the match against a Gasanova, who took the first set, but could not stop the Asian tennis torrent, very solvent to the rest.
