MADRID, 30 One. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The president of the Royal Spanish Handball Federation (RFEBM), Francisco Blázquez, was “proud” and satisfied thanks to the Spanish men’s team that won silver this Sunday at the European 2022, a “reference” team and that once more returned to compete until the end.
“We can feel proud and happy with the team we have. With a generational change in between, with new faces, we have managed to reach a final, fight it until practically the last second and what happened in the classification for the Olympic Games in Rio, and against Sweden, with time served, a penalty against us has weighed us down,” he said in statements provided by the RFEBM.
Blázquez recognized the harshness of that penalty with the time served that prevented Spain from winning the third gold in a row, after a tight final at the Budapest Arena, but wanted to highlight the career and work of the ‘Hispanics’ and Jordi Ribera’s coaching staff. “We can feel very proud of this team, of what it is contributing to us, what it has left to contribute and the work that the coaching staff is doing. It is unbeatable,” he said.
“We still have a long way to go, they have given everything on the track. Silver in a European Championship is very difficult. If there is a team and a reference technical team, it is the Spanish team. We will continue working to improve,” he concluded.
