Packers rumors about Bobby Babich and Aden Durde as defensive coordinators

Packers rumors about Bobby Babich and Aden Durde as defensive coordinators

The Packers have included more names to their list of candidates for replacing Joe Barry as coordinator.

Some former Rams employees have come forward, but Green Bay is presently searching for two voices who don’t have any experience working for Sean McVay.

James Palmer of NFL.com also says that the Packers were interviewing Broncos DBs coach Christian Parker over the job on Thursday.

It is said that the meeting with Babich will happen, and it would be strange if Durde didn’t also interview for the job.

Because LaFleur is an offense-focused head coach, teams can’t stop this kind of elevation. The Packers’ defensive coordinator calls the plays. Barry was the Packers’ DC for three years. Now, the team is going to hire their third DC from the LaFleur era.

Babich, who is 40 years old, has worked for Sean McDermott for a long time. After four years of coaching Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer together for the Bills, Bobby Babich took over as linebackers coach from his father, Bob.

The Bills had a few ailments at that spot this season, including Matt Milano’s in October, which ended his season.

However, Milano was named an All-Pro in the younger Babich’s first year as head coach. The Packers and the Giants are both after him over a promotion.

People saw Durde on Hard Knocks in 2021 and knew him as the British instructor on Dallas’ staff. Durde moved from the Cowboys to Atlanta in 2021 when Dan Quinn hired him as a coach for the defensive line.

Durde, 44, has worked with Micah Parsons his whole career, though only sort of because Dallas won’t call the star defender a pure defensive lineman.

Durde has also been in charge of one of the best D-lines in the league. This is the first time Durde has been linked to a DC opportunity.

Parker, who is only 32 years old, is seen as a rising star. It is also rumored that the Patriots want the Broncos deputy for their DC job. Parker was kept on by both Nathaniel Hackett as well as Sean Payton, even though neither of them had hired him.

Patrick Surtain as well as Justin Simmons were both coached by Vic Fangio in Denver, and both were named All-Pro. This season, the Broncos also found a possible long-term slot corner in Ja’Quan McMillian as a rookie UDFA.

Earlier Friday, it had been reported that the Green Bay Packers had asked for permission to talk to Bobby Babich, the linebackers coach for the Buffalo Bills. Babich has already been interviewed by the New York Giants for the job of defensive coordinator.

Since 2017, Babich has played with the Bills. He has helped make the linebackers one of the best players in the NFL. Many fans had hoped it would be Al Harris, a former Packers cornerback who now coaches the Cowboys’ defensive backs.

Beyond Staley and Babich, it has been said that Green Bay has also asked the Dallas Cowboys for permission to talk to one of their defensive coaches.

Former California Chargers coach Brandon Staley is said to have been the first person interviewed for the job that Barry left open. This is not the first time the Packers of Green Bay have tried to find an alternate defensive coordinator.

Gary Staley served as the defensive assistant for the Los Angeles Rams in 2020, and Barry worked for him. The defensive plan for Green Bay would stay mostly the same if they hired Staley.

This week, it was announced that Joe Barry would no longer be working for the Packers as their defensive coordinator. He has been in that role since 2021.

The decision was made because the defense, which has eight former first-round picks and other top-level players, had another bad season.

The Rams and Falcons have also asked to talk to Durde, as you can see from the post above.

Because of his close ties to Cowboys defensive line coach Dan Quinn and how well the defensive forces in Dallas have done under his direction, he is in high demand.

Aden Durde has been through a lot to become an NFL coach. His background is different from most professional coaches because he was raised and educated in Europe—in Middlesex, England, to be exact.

Durde was a professional basketball player in the UK. He played for the London Olympians and the Scottish Claymores. The Hamburg Sea Knights in Germany were another team he played for.

Durde played professional football in Europe, and he also spent time in training camps for the Carolina Panthers and the Kansas City Chiefs. Durde was an outside linebackers coach and a quality control coach for Atlanta during his five years with the team.

Durde also worked as the defensive coordinator of the London Olympians. This job helped him get a job as a defensive quality control coach for Dan Quinn when he was the Falcons’ head coach.
