Pachuca assaults the leadership in Mexico

The Pachuca of the Uruguayan coach Guillermo Almada tied this Monday without goals with the Just from Tijuana and jumped to first place in the tournament Closure 2022 of Mexican soccer, at the end of the thirteenth day.

In the first half, the Tuzos had numerous scoring opportunities, at least three clear, but they lacked aim against a Tijuana team that took half an hour to get settled on the field. As if Pachuca’s ineffectiveness in the area weren’t enough, Argentinean Nicolás Ibáñez missed a penalty in stoppage time.

The second part was similar; the Ecuadorian Romario Ibarra crashed a couple of balls into the crossbar, his teammates constantly created danger again, but they barely managed to tie in a duel they dominated.

Los Tuzos, who totaled some 20 shots on goal, reached nine wins, two draws, two losses and 29 points, the same balance as Tigres UANL, which they lead by goal difference, while Tijuana climbed to the twelfth step, with 16 points.

This Sunday the Venezuelan Yeferson Soteldo converted the goal with which the Tigres won 0-1 at the home of the Gallos de Querétaro. Coach Miguel Herrera’s Tigres were dominated, but the Roosters lacked aim and fell to the felines who played 55 minutes with one man less and 15 with nine players.

Puebla tied and is third

Puebla tied 2-2 on Friday with the Pumas UNAM and appears in third place with 23 points, one more than the champion Atlas, who on Thursday led Necaxa 2-1 with goals from the Argentine Julio Furch and the Colombian Julian Quinones. For the Rayos, the Uruguayan Rodrigo Aguirre discounted.

The Atlas rose to fourth place, followed by the Cruz Azul, the Monterrey, the León and the Toluca, in that order.

The Blues equalized 1-1 at the home of humble Mazatlán with a goal from Paraguayan Ángel Romero; Monterrey beat Santos Laguna 1-0 with a Luis Romo goal; León lost 0-2 to San Luis, who won with goals from Argentine Germán Berterame and Venezuelan Jhon Murillo, and Toluca drew 1-1 with Guadalajara.

On Saturday, América maintained its recovery after a slow start to the tournament and thrashed Juárez FC 3-0, with goals scored by Mexican Alejandro Zendejas, Uruguayan Federico Viñas and Chilean Diego Valdés.
