Real Betis announced this Friday the signing of the Spanish midfielder Pablo Fornals, once the computer error that they reported at dawn trying to validate his arrival from the English West Ham has been corrected, until obtaining approval from FIFA.
The Andalusian team was the great entertainer of the winter market in its final hours. Pablo Fornals, the Argentine striker Ezequiel 'Chimy' Ávila and the Congolese striker Cédric Bakambu signed for Betis, but the Spaniard had to be registered provisionally.
“There is an issue with Fornals at the last minute, a computer incident that we have been working on to try to justify it. Betis provided all the documents in a timely manner. West Ham have had a problem in their computer tool not only in the case of Betis but with other cases,” said Ramón Alarcón, CEO of Betis.
At dawn the news broke that could truncate Fornals' return to the Spanish League, but West Ham corrected their mistake and FIFA approved the transfer in the morning. Thus, on Friday afternoon, Betis announced the signing of the Castellón native, who signs for the Verdiblanco team until 2029.
“Real Betis Balompié and West Ham United FC have reached an agreement for the transfer of Pablo Fornals. In this way, the Spanish international footballer becomes a green and white player until June 2029,” says the Betis team.
The man from Castellón made his debut in the First Division with Málaga in 2015, being transferred to Villarreal in 2017. From the Submarino he arrived in 2019 at West Ham in the English Premier, where he played 203 games and won the UEFA Conference League last season.
