Pablo Carreño advances in Metz; Paula Badosa, home in Ostrava

Asturian Pablo Carreño, second-seeded, agreed to the quarterfinals of the Metz ATP tournament (France) by winning in two rounds to the Swede Miakel Ymer. The bronze medalist at Tokyo 2020 beat Ymer 7-5 6-2 and in the quarterfinals he will meet 18-year-old Danish Holger Vitus Nodskov Rune, from the previous one and executioner with a comeback from Italian Lorenzo Sonego by 6-7 (6), 6-4 and 6-4.

Briton Andy Murray also went to fourth, in his case by beating Canadian Vasek Pospisil by a double 6-3.

On the negative side, Paula Badosa, ninth seeded, fell on Wednesday to Estonian Anett Kontaveit in the last 16 of the WTA tournament in Ostrava (Czech Republic).

Kontaveit, 30 in the world and champion this year in Cleveland, beat Badosa 6-3 and 6-4 in an hour and a quarter to meet in the quarterfinals with the winner of the match between another Spanish, Sara Sorribes, and the Swiss Belinda Bencic, third favorite.
