Pablo and Marie-Chantal among the attendees

Recently arrived in Athens, Queen Sofia attended the funeral of her uncle Miguel, who died last Sunday 28 at the age of 84. Next to the Queen Emeritus was her sister Irene, from whom she has not left her side for a moment. We have seen them visibly affected and sad in this last farewell to Prince Michael of Greece. At the funeral mass in his memory, Queen Sofia’s relatives were present, among whom were Pablo and his wife, Marie-Chantal Miller.

In deep mourning and with a sad look on her face, Queen Sofia arrived at the Orthodox Church of San Teodoro, where the funeral was held on Thursday morning, August 1. Under a strong sun and high temperatures of around 34 degrees, the Greek family gathered at the doors of the temple to exchange hugs and condolences. After the service, the mortal remains were buried in the Tatoi estate, in the capital, where her ancestors are buried, such as the last king of the Hellenes, Constantine II.

An intimate event in which the King’s mother was reunited with her sister-in-law Anna Maria, Constantine’s widow. In addition to the aforementioned Paul, crown prince, and his wife, we saw his brothers Philippos and Nicolas.

Felipe VI’s mother headed to Athens on Wednesday 31st, the day before the funeral. She left from Palma, where she stayed a week ago to spend the summer months.
