Oyarzabal: “It’s time to turn the page and fight for what’s left this year”

MADRID, 28 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Real Sociedad striker Mikel Oyarzabal has acknowledged that he cannot get the missed penalty in the Copa del Rey semi-final shootout against RCD Mallorca “out of his head”, although he has assured that “it is time to turn the page” and “fight for what remains this year”, which is “a lot and very nice”.

“The whole stadium has been pushing and trying to make all this easier, it’s a shame that it has been like this. It’s time to turn the page and fight for what’s left this year, which luckily we have a lot of beautiful things ahead of us,” he told TVE after the match at the Reale Arena.

Regarding elimination, it especially hurts him to “lose her at home.” “This could be a party, returning to the final after so few years… It’s a hard moment for everyone, but surely over time we will realize what is being achieved. Being in the semifinals is a reason to be proud. Nobody likes what happened to us today, but this is football; sometimes you win and sometimes you lose, and today we had to lose,” he said.

“Right now you have that penalty in your head, it was my turn. I have no problem accepting it and saying that if I had to shoot again tomorrow, I would take it again. It went wrong for me. We thank the people for their support and we are going to continue doing our best to get back into situations like this,” he concluded.
