Coach Álvaro Cervera will manage Real Oviedo until the end of the season, the Asturian club confirmed this Tuesday, signing the coach, a substitute for the dismissed Jon Pérez Bolo, until June 2023.
The 57-year-old coach from Santa Isabel (Equatorial Guinea) arrives at the Carbayona entity accompanied by Roberto Carlos Perera Núñez as his second coach and Adolfo Mayordomo Cardín as physical trainer. This same Tuesday he will lead his first training session in El Requexón and will be presented on Wednesday at the Carlos Tartiere Stadium.
Cervera played as a player for Racing de Santander, Rayo Cantabria, RCD Mallorca, Valencia, Hércules, Águilas and Almería, before beginning his career on the bench. As a coach, he has managed, among others, Cultural Leonesa, Real Jaén, Real Unión, Recreativo de Huelva, Racing, Tenerife and Cádiz, which he took from Second Division B to First Division and in which It was seven seasons.
Last Sunday, Real Oviedo dismissed Jon Pérez Bolo as coach due to the poor results of the first team, in relegation positions in LaLiga SmartBank, in addition to also announcing the dismissal of their until now sporting director, Vicente ‘Tito’ Blanco.
The team occupies the nineteenth position, the first of those in the relegation zone, with 10 points, one of the places of salvation, after linking seven days without knowing the victory, the last of them with a defeat against Albacete (1- 0).
