Òscar Garcia’s Reims, eliminated by a Second

Bastia, from Ligue 2, eliminated Reims managed by Òscar Garcia Junyent, from the top flight, in the round of 16 of the Coupe de France by winning on penalties after the match played at the Stade Auguste- Delaune will finish with 1-1.

In addition to Bastia, which will face Nantes in the quarterfinals (executioner of Brest on Friday), Amiens, also in the second category, and Versailles, in fourth, carried out their commitments this Saturday.

Reims did not take advantage of the local status and fell to a lesser rival. Òscar’s team took the lead in the 37th minute with Hugo Ekitike’s goal but with twenty to go, Sebastien Salles Lamonge equalized for the visitors. The clash, without extension, was resolved directly in the launch of penalties. Bastia scored all five and Reims three.

The Versailles, from Fourth, gives the big surprise

The classification of Versailles was another of the surprises of the day. In the fourth category, they won away at the Municipal Stadium against Toulouse, led by Philippe Montanier, former coach of Real Sociedad, who played from the 20th minute with one less player due to the expulsion of Cameroonian Steve Regis Mvoue.

Ligue 2 leaders Toulouse were unable to overcome Kaptibajan Djoco’s goal in the 79th minute. Versailles will play the winner of the duel between Bergerac and Saint Etienne scheduled for Sunday in the quarterfinals.

The clash between Nancy and Amiens, both from the second division, ended with the victory of the visitors at the Stade Marcel Picot (0-2). Arnaud Lusamba and the Nigerian Toluwalase Emmanuel Arokodare led to the qualification of Amiens, who will play against the winner of Lens-Monaco, and the elimination of the bottom team from Ligue 2.
