MADRID, 6 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –
CA Osasuna will meet their rival this Monday (2:00 p.m.) in the ‘Playoffs’ round of the 2023-24 Conference League, the third continental competition, a fate that will be decided at the UEFA House of European Soccer in Nyon ( Switzerland) after another hectic week at the Navarrese club.
Last Thursday, the rojilla entity was fined by UEFA with 100,000 euros and 5 percent of the income from European competitions from the group stage for having gone to the Spanish ordinary justice and not respecting the TAS in its dispute for playing the Conference League 2023-24, in which the ‘reds’ will be despite the warning from the European entity to leave them out if they repeat a two-year trial period.
Now, controversies aside, Jagoba Arrasate’s team awaits an opponent for the two-legged tie, which will be decided on August 24 and 31, without being seeded, since it has the lowest coefficient awarded by UEFA after not having played continental competitions in the last five years. In total, there will be 44 teams that will play the tie.
The objective: to sneak among the 32 teams that will play the group stage of the third European competition, which West Ham won last year. It will not be until this same Monday at 9:00 a.m. when UEFA establishes the groups that will give rise to the crosses in the draw.
Among the 30 adversaries with which the Navarrese could be measured are some important ones such as Aston Villa, Fiorentina, Eintracht Frankfurt -Europa League champion in 2022- or Lille, as well as other teams that still have to play the third previous round -to be held on August 10 and 17-, among which are Bruges, AZ Alkmaar, Fenerbahçe, Olympiacos or Maccabi Tel Aviv.
