Ortolá fuels the debate in the Girona goal

If there is something clear in Girona is that the goal this well covered. This was commented a few weeks ago by Michel when he was questioned if in the winter market this was going to be a line in which movements would occur and the technician was quick to not give wings to any type of speculation. He is happy with Juan Carlos and Adrián Ortolá, also with Jonatan Morillas from the subsidiary, and he is showing it. In the last match against Huesca, Michel gave the alternative to Ortolá and he responded by showing a great level, both under sticks and with the game with the feet. Hence, currently a new debate has appeared: Who should be the starter in the goal of Girona?

Blessed problem that Michel has now. Juan Carlos has been intractable in goal and this season he has signed matches in which his saves have given his team points. At a good level it is untouchable, but Ortolá has long been knocking on Michel’s door. He is trying to take advantage of the few opportunities that come his way and the clearest example was his duel in the last league match in Huesca. A year, a month and five days later he was the starter again in a league duel (the last was with Tenerife on November 26, 2020 against Almería) and he was not seen at all nervous. He signed stops of merit, such as those he made before shots from Juan Carlos Real and Pitta, and held his team in the final minutes. Now he seeks to give continuity to his moment and what is clear is that he is in a position to fight face to face with Juan Carlos for ownership.

The first decision that Michel will have to make is who is the starting goal this Thursday against Osasuna in the Copa del Rey. The two are already one hundred percent because Juan Carlos got a fair goal to the duel against Huesca after overcoming Covid-19. This caused the ownership of Ortolá, but the good level of both makes it difficult to make a decision. What is clear, and Michel has commented on more than one occasion, is that he is happy with both: “The change in goal was because Juan Carlos had Covid-19 until Saturday. That’s why we changed, but the reality is that we have two great goalkeepers. All I ask is that both of you understand that you are here to help the team. I have confidence in both“.
