Öncü takes advantage of the battle between Holgado and Sasaki and wins in Moto3

MADRID, 20 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Turkish rider Deniz Öncü (KTM) achieved victory this Sunday in Moto3 at the Austrian Grand Prix, the tenth round of the Motorcycle World Championship, in a race in which he benefited from the final fight between the World Championship leader, the Spanish Dani Holgado (KTM), and the Japanese Ayumu Sasaki (Husqvarna).

An overtaking of both in the last corner of the Austrian track served the Ottoman to sign his second victory of the year. Only five thousandths separated him from Holgado, while the Japanese driver closed the podium at Red Bull Ring.

In spite of everything, Holgado continues to lead the general classification for the small displacement by managing to overtake Sasaki, who is 26 points behind the Spaniard. For his part, Öncü enters the ‘Top 3’.

Once the lights went out, Holgado took the lead ahead of Öncü and poleman Collin Veijer (Husqvarna), with Colombian David Alonso (GasGas) and Jaume Masià (Honda) soon joining a leading group of five riders , although both would soon fall from the fight

A mechanical problem with 17 laps to go left the man from Algemesí out, and with nine laps to go the ‘coffee grower’, champion of the race at Silverstone, crashed in turn 2 just when he had just taken the lead.

With the podium decided on the finish line, Iván Ortolá (KTM) finished fifth, with David Muñoz (KTM) ninth. Outside the ‘Top 10’ finished José Antonio Rueda (KTM), eleventh; David Salvador (KTM), fifteenth; Xavi Artigas (CFMoto); and Ana Carrasco (KTM), twenty-fifth.
