Öncü leads the Moto3 KTM front row with Dani Holgado second

The leader Sergio García Dols will start thirteenth and Izan Guevara, fifth

MADRID, 3 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Turkish rider Deniz Öncü (KTM) won pole position this Saturday for the Moto3 race of the San Marino Grand Prix, the fourteenth round of the Motorcycle World Championship, ahead of the Spanish Dani Holgado (KTM), while the first two of the championship , Sergio García Dols and Izan Guevara (GasGas), will start on Sunday from thirteenth and fifth position, respectively.

With his third pole of the year, the Ottoman will lead a KTM front row in which he will be accompanied by Holgado, ‘poleman’ in Austria and who will start for the fourth time from the most advanced line, and the also Brazilian ‘rookie’ Diogo Moreira (KTM) , which dominated for much of Q2.

Meanwhile, a small error on his last flying lap removed Guevara, five points from the head of the general classification in the small category, from the front row of the grid and will start fifth, while his teammate and World Championship leader, García Dols, only the thirteenth starting place could be guaranteed.

With rain making an appearance at the Misano-Marco Simoncelli Circuit, Moreira took control of the session in the opening minutes before Italian Riccardo Rossi (Honda) took over shortly after.

With seven minutes to go and with the track drying up, Izan Guevara (GasGas) took the lead in the time table, but the red helmets began to emerge. Moreira regained the privileged place with a time of 1:42.642 that he managed to beat Palma’s time again by 33 thousandths with a few seconds to go before the checkered flag.

However, the South American runner hit him back (1:42.472), although Öncü appeared from behind like an exhalation to take the pole by beating him by 24 thousandths. Holgado slipped between the two, determined to prove his worth in his debut in the championship.

In addition, Carlos Tatay (CFMoto) will start sixth, Adrián Fernández (KTM) will do so tenth, just ahead of Jaume Masià (KTM), and David Muñoz (KTM), fifteenth. Among those who failed to advance from Q1, Xavi Artigas (CFMoto) will start twenty-fifth, Iván Ortolá (KTM) twenty-sixth and Ana Carrasco (KTM), last.
