Once-suspended safety Kareem Jackson is claimed off waivers by the Texans.

Once-suspended safety Kareem Jackson is claimed off waivers by the Texans.

The team said on Tuesday that they picked up safety Kareem Jackson out waivers, one day after the Denver Broncos let him go.

In the same way, the Texans put safety Jimmie Ward on injured reserve after he left Sunday’s loss with the Cleveland Browns in a quad injury.

Jackson, who is 35 years old, has had a rough season. He has been suspended twice, most recently to four games.

Jackson has been kicked out of two games because he broke the rules about needless roughness too many times.

Jackson was first thrown out of the game when he hit tight end Logan Thomas improperly in a loss by the Washington Commanders in Week 2.

Jackson was originally banned for three games because of that hit, but after an appeal, the ban was cut to two games.

He was given his first suspension when he hit Packers tight end Luke Musgrave on the bench in the final period of Week 7’s game toward the Green Bay Packers.

Jackson then took off his cap and hit quarterback Joshua Dobbs hard against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 11.

Even though he wasn’t kicked off for the hit, the league banned him for four games because he broke player safety rules so many times.

Jackson joins back up with Texans coach DeMeco Ryans, whom he played his first two seasons in Houston.

He spent the last five seasons in Denver. Jackson was picked by the Texans with the 20th overall pick in the 2010 draft. He played for nine seasons in Houston.

Jackson told KPRC-TV on Tuesday, “I’m thrilled to be back with the Texans.” “Having spent a lot of time in Houston, it’s all coming full circle.”

When DeMeco does well, I’m really happy and excited for him. Being a part of that group and seeing DeMeco get the job and do well in life made me happy.

“They have a lot of young talented people there.” Assist these guys win their next two games and make it to the playoffs.

That’s why I want to join the team. He didn’t play in the 26–23 loss suffered by the New England Patriots on Sunday night.

Jackson has started 69 Broncos games in the last five years, eight of them this year. After serving his four-game ban on a roster exemption that ended Monday, he went back to practice last Wednesday.

Jackson’s addition means that the Texans now have a pair of the three players who were banned this season for illegal hits. The fourth player is veteran linebacker Denzel Perryman. The other is Damontae Kazee, a safety for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

As of Tuesday, the Houston Texans had claimed back Kareem Jackson off waivers. This came just one day after the Denver Broncos had released the veteran.

Jackson has had a rough season so far, getting ejected several times and being suspended twice.

To go along with this, the Texans put starting back Jimmie Ward on injured shelf because he hurt his quad in Week 16’s loss to the Cleveland Browns.

For an illegal hit on Washington Commanders tight end Logan Thomas in Week 2, Jackson was kicked off the game.

Jackson was kicked out of the game and later got a suspension for hitting Green Bay Packers tight end Luke Musgrave in Week 7.

Jackson was suspended for three games at first, but afterward it was cut down to two games.Jackson was suspended for Week 11 for hitting Minnesota Vikings quarterback Joshua Dobbs after he had his head down.

After that, Jackson was banned for four games by the NFL for breaking player safety rules too many times.

The safety, who is 14 years old, has played 201 games and made 952 stops, 22 interceptions, and 110 pass deflections. Jackson played his first nine years in Houston. In 2019, he joined the Broncos.

Jackson is getting back together with Texans mentor DeMeco Ryans now that he is back in Houston. They played together for the Texans for two years, from 2010 to 2011.

The Texans have one of the three players banned this year for illegal hits. The third is inside linebacker Denzel Perryman.

Damontae Kazee, a linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers, is the third player the NFL has banned for an illegal hit.
