MADRID, 25 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Spanish couple formed by Olivia Smart and Adrián Díaz qualified this Friday for the rhythmic dance final of the Figure Skating World Cup, which is taking place in Montpellier (France), thanks to a magnificent sixth place that, in addition, was a personal record of discipline score.
Smart and Díaz, who finished eighth in the last Winter Olympics, continued their good form with a sensational performance to the chords of Tina Turner and her ‘Proud Mary’. A high-level choreography that raised the judges’ score to 79.40, the tandem’s personal record.
This figure allows Smart and Díaz to rise to sixth position, just over one point behind the Canadians Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier; already seven of the medals. The best couple in this rhythmic dance short program was the French Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron, who achieved an excellent 92.73 in search of their fifth world title.
The final is played this Saturday and the Spanish couple will jump onto the ice starting at 7:29 p.m. in search of consolidating their status as the world’s ‘top 10’ in the second part of the exercise. This Friday’s score already invites us to think that they can improve in the final in relation to the past Olympic Games, where they obtained a start of 77.70.
