The president of the Board of Directors of Bayern Munich, Oliver Kahn, affirmed this Sunday that the German club does not value an immediate replacement of Polish striker Robert Lewandowski, recently transferred to FC Barcelona, also assuring that he does not know if “it would be the right thing” to sign now to Cristiano Ronaldo.
“I love Cristiano Ronaldo and everyone knows how fantastic he is. But every club has a certain philosophy and I’m not sure if it would be the right thing for Bayern and the Bundesliga if we signed him now,” Kahn said of the Portuguese. 37 years old, still under contract at Manchester United, in statements published this Sunday by Bild am Sonntag.
The exporter confessed that a signing of this magnitude “does not necessarily fit” with the ideas that Bayern is currently pursuing. “We have to think first about putting together the squad for this season. Let’s see what else happens,” he added.
In addition, Kahn ruled out signing an immediate replacement for Robert Lewandowski. Thus, asked by Harry Kane, he stated that they are only rumours. “He’s under contract with Tottenham. Sure he’s a top striker, but all of that is heavenly music,” he noted.
The Englishman still has a contract with Tottenham until 2024, and a transfer this summer would be financially difficult for Bayern, Kicker recently reported.
