Oihane Hernández and Alba Redondo, news on the list for the matches against Hungary and Ukraine

MADRID, 26 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Defender Oihane Hernández, from Athletic Club, and striker Alba Redondo, from Levante UD, are the main novelties on the list called up by the national women’s football coach, Jorge Vilda, for the qualifying matches for the 2023 World Cup against Hungary and Ukraine.

The 22-year-old right-back, international in the lower categories, receives her first call-up with the national team, while the attacker from Albacete has already been a regular in other calls.

The presence of Jennifer Hermosos also stands out in the call, who left Spain to sign for the Mexican Pachuca and who missed the European Championship in England due to injury, an event in which a total of 19 players repeat.

Aitana Bonmatí (FC Barcelona), Sheila García and Marta Cardona (Atlético de Madrid) fell due to injury, while Claudia Zornoza (Real Madrid), who was in the preliminary list, maintains the confidence of the coach.

In addition, the absences from the call-up of the young FC Barcelona striker Claudia Pina and the Real Sociedad midfielder Nerea Eizagirre, who had been a regular despite not making the cut for the EURO, also stand out.

Spain, already qualified for the event that will be played in Australia and New Zealand, will seek to maintain the full number of victories in the visits to the Ciudad del Fútbol de Las Rozas (Madrid) of the Hungarians, on September 2, and the Ukrainians, on the 6th, both at 9:00 p.m.
