BARCELONA, 29 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –
RCD Espanyol confirmed this Wednesday the departure of goalkeeper Oier Olazábal, who ends his stay with the ‘perico’ team after two and a half seasons in which he has only played nine games, while winger Víctor Gómez will play on loan at Sporting de Braga next season, keeping the Portuguese club a purchase option of two million euros on the player.
“Oier Olazábal will cease to be an RCD Espanyol player as of June 30. Oier, who arrived at RCD Espanyol in January 2020, has had exemplary and very professional behavior during his time as a first-team footballer. The club wishes all the luck in the world in his new challenges,” the club said in a statement.
The goalkeeper is the fourth march confirmed by the Catalan team, including that of the starting goalkeeper Diego López, who leaves the entity after six years, along with Didac Vilà and captain David López, after eight campaigns and almost 240 games on the payroll .
With the departure of Olazábal, RCD Espanyol will have to go to the transfer market to completely renew their list of goalkeepers for the new season, after the profound restructuring with the goodbye of the Basque and Diego López.
For its part, the club also confirmed on Wednesday the transfer of winger Víctor Gómez to Sporting de Braga for next season, keeping a purchase option of two million euros on the player, as announced on Wednesday by both the Portuguese team and the RCD Espanyol, a group that owns the property of the footballer.
“RCD Espanyol and Sporting Clube de Braga have reached an agreement to close the transfer of Víctor Gómez to the Portuguese team for the 2022-2023 season. The agreement includes a purchase option for the Portuguese team,” explained the Catalan team in a statement.
The 22-year-old footballer has played for FC Barcelona, Espanyol, Mirándes and Málaga, with whom he played 35 games in LaLiga Smartbank last season. Also, the winger was European Under-17 and Under-19 champion with ‘La Roja’.
