A goal from defender Naomichi Ueda in extra time allowed Japan to beat Ivory Coast 1-0 in the friendly match played this Tuesday in the Dutch town of Utrecht.
Ueda, who had replaced Sei Muroya just a couple of minutes earlier, scored the Japanese winning goal when he headed a free kick from Leganés player Gaku Shibasaki.
The Madrid team midfielder was not the only representative of the Spanish competition in the Japanese team, in which the young Villarreral forward Takefusa Kubo also appeared in the starting eleven.
Kubo, who arrived this summer at the Castellón team on loan from Real Madrid, was replaced in the 61st minute by English Liverpool striker Takumi Minamino.
