Officially the champion of the future

Carlos Alcaraz placeholder image was marked on the world circuit as the champion of the future. From this Saturday, it already is officially. The Spanish conquered the NextGen ATP Finals, the Masters of category sub-21, with an enormous solvency. In front he had Sebastian Korda, the son of Crazy bird, another talented young man, although three years older than him, who awaited him in the final as the most complicated rival of the week, as the most experienced opponent. But Korda also succumbed to the mighty game of Alcaraz, who flew on this fast track. There is a difference between this tournament and the rest of the scenarios in which the Murcian have competed during this season. Wherever he went he exhibited the poster of an emerging young man in full progression, of a beardless aspirant who started with much to gain and with very little to lose. In Milan, however, he arrived for the first time with the top favorite tag, by ranking and by precedents. And he knew how to assume the role with the same naturalness with which he has faced this course to tenistas del top-10: a Tsitsipas, a Berrettini, a Sinner… To the elite of tennis.

Alcaraz thus becomes the fourth winner of this attractive competition. Of the three above, only Hyeon Chung (2017) He has not managed to evolve in the professional circuit, although his rival has done so in that final, Andrei Rublev, which currently ranks fifth in the ranking ATP. The other two, Stefanos Tsitsipas (2018) and Jannik Sinner (2019), are the fourth and tenth in the world, respectively. Two established tennis players who, coincidentally, have already given in to the thriving Alcaraz in this season. This data offers a dimension of what it means to win las NextGen, and also the promising panorama that opens up to the Spanish on the horizon. But beyond the data is his talent, his attitude, his game … All the ingredients that the champion of the future must gather.
