Odriozola, 'signed' by Real Madrid for 2020-21

Álvaro Odriozola (24 years old) will remain in the Real Madrid squad for the 2020-21 season. The Gipuzkoan full-back already knows that the club is counting on him despite the fact that the transfer of the winter market to Bayern Munich has been unsuccessful due to the shortage of minutes available to him. But at the club's offices there was a happy moment with Odriozola on Saturday when he realized that he finally had his debut with the Bavarians in the Champions League and responded by giving Lewandowski a goal assist. ‘Odri’ jumped onto the field in the 71st minute and only 13 later did he make his explosive forays down the right wing, hurried the baseline, looked up and he put the ball at the far post where the Polish ‘matador’ entered like a bull to put his head and sign the final 4-1 to Chelsea. It was significant how the two merged in a hug that culminated in the Basque player lifting the Polish giant up as if he were an aizkolari (Lewandowski weighs more than 80 kilos).

Odriozola has played for Bayern since January only five games and given one assist (Saturday's). Before going to the Bundesliga in the winter market he had signed a discreet season in Madrid with five games and two assists. His red card at Son Moix penalized him a lot on the night of the league defeat against Mallorca. Zizou He lost confidence in him and the kid asked for a loan to regain confidence. But after deciding to sell Achraf to Inter (for 40 million euros plus five in variables), Madrid has decided to recover the San Sebastian, who He still has a contract with the white club until 2024.

Do not forget that two years ago Madrid signed him to Real Sociedad for 30 million euros and that now its price has dropped by half (16 million according to the latest Transfermarkt value). But He will start as a direct substitute for Carvajal and he hopes to have more minutes and some continuity to convince Zidane that with the squad and with him the right wing is well covered. It is not bad to start his challenge by giving a goal assist to a certain Lewandowski, this season's great killer with 53 official goals in 44 games …
