Odriozola decides in summer

The future of Álvaro Odriozola (26 years old) will be decided in the summer. Madrid has the side for next season due to various factors: the first is the poor performance of Carvajal in this season. The man from Madrid has suffered in important games (PSG, Barcelona…) to such an extent that he had to be substituted in both games. The second is the great performance that the one from San Sebastián is developing in the Italian championship in such a way that Fiorentina, his current team, wants to take over his services, either on loan or transferred, something that the white club is not contemplating for now.

The third factor is the absence of pure right-backs in the Madrid squad. This season up to four players have passed through that demarcation: Carvajal (the only one), Lucas Vázquez, Nacho and even Valverde played in that position experimentally against Sheriff Tiraspol (Camavinga ended up being the left back), and none has had a performance suitable for the needs of the equipment.

Another point to take into account in the return of the Basque defender is the point of maturity in the game that he has found in the ranks of the Italian team. Odriozola has found stability in his time in Italy, although already at the end of last season (2020-21) he showed his improvement in the game (he scored two goals and became important for Zidane). All this adds up in his favour, but we have to wait until the end of the season to find out what the club’s future plans are.
