“Oblivious to the noise of fools…”

The family of the Peruvian Nobel Prize winner has said ‘enough’. Tired of rumours about the health of their father, who a few days ago they saw walking with difficulty through the streets of Madrid, they have published some messages this weekend to respond to followers who demanded an explanation. “Álvaro, we are worried about the health of the famous Mario Vargas Llosa, your father, whom we saw walking alone and very ill. You as a family have not said anything,” said one user. “Thank you very much, but there are other things that should concern you. He is fine and, of course, in excellent company.”his son replied.

And not only that. Alvaro accompanied the text with a photograph in which his father and mother appear, Patricia Llosataking a refreshing bath. The author of The party of the goatwearing a printed blue swimsuit, rests on the lap of his wife, with whom he resumed his relationship after five years of dating. Isabel Preysler.

And just in case it wasn’t clear enough, here’s another image: Mario Vargas Llosa splashing around, this time alone, in the same pool of crystal-clear waters and surrounded by lush vegetation: “A week ago, oblivious to the noise of the fools who try to surprise the good faith of people like you”wrote Álvaro on Monday in response to a tweet from a well-known literary group: “We wish the best to Mario Vargas Llosa and his family, whose physical deterioration in recent weeks has raised the level of concern for his state of health. All our sincere encouragement and support.”

It is clear that the rumours about the 88-year-old writer’s health are bothering his family a lot. Even more so are the comments about the care that the Nobel Prize winner is receiving at this time in his life: “This person is ill, I am not going to say what is happening to him because this is something that the person has to say. The only thing I can say is that he is not well. The other time when he spoke it was evident,” said Pilar Vidal a few days ago in Public mirrorAnd he added: “I think that a person like Mario, with the money he has earned and what he has been, could be better looked after.”
