Nuria Parrizas and Leyre Romero enter the second round of the BBVA International Open in Valencia

MADRID, 8 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Nuria Parrizas and Leyre Romero were the Spanish survivors this Tuesday of the second day of the BBVA International Open in Valencia, scoring for the WTA and which is played on clay, while Andrea Lázaro, Irene Burillo and Ángel Fito said goodbye.

Parrizas suffered in her debut in the Valencian tournament, where she started as the first seed. The woman from Granada had to come back to get rid of the French Elsa Jacquemot, who was about to cause a surprise despite being a ‘lucky loser’.

The Spanish tennis player had to ‘battle’ for two hours and 40 minutes to win the match in three sets 4-6, 6-1, 6-4, after a match in which she was ‘break’ down in the third set and where he came close to blowing a 5-2 lead. Her next rival will be the Ukrainian Katarina Zavatska, who defeated the Spanish Angela Fita 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.

In addition, in a match that ended early Wednesday morning, Leyre Romero also advanced to the round by getting rid of Argentina’s Solana Sierra in two sets (7-5, 6-2), who arrived in Valencia as a junior finalist at Roland Garros. The Hungarian Reka-Luca Jani will be her next rival.

On the side of the local defeats were also those of Andrea Lázaro, who could not beat one of the top seeds, the Chinese Qinwen Zheng (3), who won 6-4, 6-2, and Irene Burillo against Dutch veteran Arancha Rus (6-2, 7-6).

On the other hand, on the grass of the tournament in Nottingham (England), the Spanish Cristina Bucsa could not overcome her debut after losing to the Chinese Shuai Zhang, fourth seed, in two sets by 7-6(4), 6- 3.
