After a fruitful stage at Mediaset with a bitter outcome, Núria Marín We continue to see her on Catalan television, since TV3 signed her in the summer, months before Telecinco dispensed with her and MarÃa Patiño in front of Sociality. Since January, the program has continued on the Fuencarral network's schedule, but with MarÃa Verdoy as a presenter.
Marín collaborates weekly in Is passing and also presents Love cost, a newly released dating show for the 3Cat platform. Your podcast Pure Salseo and his successful TikTok 'Royal Salseo' continue to generate great results, both professional and personal. Furthermore, the Catalan communicator has just released her first novel, I am Aphrodite. It is based on the story of Paula, a young woman who is reincarnated as this goddess from Greek mythology, and deals with topics such as toxic relationships, impostor syndrome or lack of self-esteem.
In Informalia We have spoken with the presenter about her first literary adventure, a challenge that she has been considering for years and which hits bookstores this Wednesday, February 21. “I am elated, happy and very proud to have managed to publish a novel. I had always had a lot of respect for doing so. I felt very well oriented and guided. I had started it many times and I just needed the push and for someone to believe in me and the story. And here it is. Very happy, to be honest,” she tells us in an extensive conversation about her first novel and the fascination she feels for mythology, the driving force that inspired her during a trip with her boyfriend. [Juan Luis de Paolis, director y guionista de programas como Lo de Ãvole y Salvados] to the Greek islands.
Of television and the end of his time in Sociality we have also spoken. “I already saw it coming that this would happen. And what I was very clear about was that what was happening was not because I was a bad professional. I am a good, very good professional. So it was for other reasons that are there.” , tells us about the moment when Telecinco dispensed with her and María Patiño. He also tells us about Carlota Corredera, to whom he shows his support after talking about her departure from Mediaset: “She is not intimidated by the system that sometimes would prefer us to be silent,” says Marín.
Have you encountered many stones along the way? In your novel, you say through Paula, your main character: “Many times I have the impression that I have the longest way to achieve things. The people around me seem to be riding in a car. races that rush along a highway with no speed limit. I feel like they have given me the kilometer zero car with the mountain pass belt.”.
It's not that I have encountered stones, but I have often felt that my success came late. I think we live in a society where it seems that success has to come before you turn 30, otherwise you are a failure. So I am very happy to have started to have some success at an older age because that gives me maturity to face it. I am very much in favor of slow roads. I can understand that when someone is fighting for something, whether at a work or personal level, they may feel that success does not come quickly, but it eventually comes. If you walk, it will eventually arrive. It is better to have a slow car than a fast one, because you will arrive. And you will arrive with more experience and more wisdom. You will know how to taste it better and maintain it better.
In this sense, have you felt valued in your profession?
Yes, I have felt valued but sometimes I have made the mistake of thinking: “And why is this person yes and I am not?” I have thought about it at some point, in the past. But sooner or later it comes because you keep working and you keep working for it. So, it finally arrives and I am happy when it arrived. Because it has arrived when it had to arrive.
Because you are a well-known character, do you think you are going to face prejudice in the literary world?
Yes, but I don't care. In the end I am a journalist. I have written all my life because I have dedicated myself to writing. I was an editor of Super Pop and I think there is a lot of the spirit Super Pop in the novel. Will there be prejudices? Yes. I also do not aspire to write a book that changes the history of literature. I make entertainment on TV, on social networks. I have made a book so that people can be entertained and have a good time, and identify if possible with some things, which I believe so.
Mónica, one of the main characters, is the friend who is there to be the support and heroine of Paula, your protagonist. Within the television world, have you had a heroine who saved you?
Yes, I have had many friends who are squires. There are many Monicas in my life who have been there during difficult times. Because also, on TV, something happens that we all have to experience a difficult moment, at one time or another. Then we have to exchange roles. Sometimes we have to be Paula, other times Mónica and vice versa. So I want to think that I have been the Monica of many people because there have been many people who have been my Monica in complicated moments, in moments of insecurity. It's not that no one is doing anything to you, it's just that at that moment you have to fight against yourself and you need someone to remind you of your worth.
Any familiar face who has helped you in moments of fragility?
Phew. There have been many 'Monicas' in the profession. Nando Escribano has been my Mónica many times. Javi de Hoyos, the director of Sociality, it has also been. Many people. Many.
From the TV Factory [productora de Socialité y Sálvame] in general?
Yes, many who are not known. Like Ana Production Cazamariposas. Miquel, also production. There have been many Monicas in my life. Carlota Corredera, too.
Carlota Corredera has precisely recently spoken about her departure from Telecinco with some symbolic statements. What message do you have for her?
Well, I believe that Carlota is brave, a fighter, and Carlota is not intimidated by the system that sometimes would prefer us to be silent. That's what I told you, they want to make us feel small so that we don't dare to fight for what we believe in. And she didn't want to keep quiet and I admire her a lot. And I love her very much.
Did you launch into other projects after sensing that the end of your time in Sociality?
I was already on Catalan TV before all this happened because they signed me in the summer. What happened had not happened. So when they do without us [MarÃa Patiño y ella] in Sociality, I was already working at TV3. What I do know is that I already saw it coming that this would happen. And what I was very clear about was that what was happening was not because I was a bad professional. I am a good, very good professional. So it was for other reasons that are there. These are reasons that those bosses will have but I had to look out for myself, for my worth and continue working because there are many people who want to work with me because I am good at my job and that is what counts in the end. That I would never forget, above all that, that no matter what happened I would never stop believing in myself. Because if you stop believing in yourself, others stop believing in you. So, people see you how you see yourself. I thought: 'Hey, I'm going to let go of this because there are a lot of things I can pick up and if I don't let go I don't have hands to hold.' And that's what I did, let go to be able to catch.
Would you send Telecinco the message of 'it is well-born to be grateful'? Do you think Telecinco is being grateful to the professionals who have given so much to the network?
They would have to answer that. I want to think that I am grateful to others. I give thanks many times a day. For many things, for the silliest things, and the universe doesn't stop giving me things back. It happens to me that I always find parking at the door of the places. At the bus stop, the bus always arrives right away. The universe blesses me with many things and I think it is very good to be grateful. It gives you a lot of spiritual and mental peace and there is nothing better than having peace of mind.
Have you felt that because you are a journalist of the heart they have looked over your shoulder?
All the time, but I absolutely don't care. I accept my job and I love my job. Furthermore, I approach the gossip press from humor, like entertainment, and that is the path that I like. In Is passing, which is a current affairs program, they have allowed me to do a heart section in a humorous way. I have a blast and my teammates contribute too. They are humor professionals from whom I am learning a lot. It's a game, I have a great time and I think people are responding very well to that tone, which is also very popular. Cazamariposas. It was a heart with fun, sometimes we got angry but mainly it was fun. There are famous people who understand it, famous people who don't. And I believe that, for me, it is the way to treat the heart.
¿Qué number and Love costyour new program for 3Cat?
I had a great time doing the dating show. Also, when they offered it to me I was writing I am Aphrodite and it seems something cosmic to me. It was like coincidence, magical. See how the universe plays these funny little pranks on us? That's why we have to laugh a little at life because in the end it is something cosmic and funny that we had to take advantage of. I have had a nice time. I have met very interesting people and participants, with exciting stories and it has been very cool because I have been able to show a new record as a presenter.
