Novak Djokovic, number one among number one

Novak Djokovic broke the record for weeks as world number one on Monday, March 8, with 311. He surpassed the 310 mark held since 2018 by Roger Federer, with whom he maintains, along with Rafa Nadal, a legendary struggle for historical supremacy in tennis.

Between the three they add up to 33.75% of weeks at the top of a ranking that has existed since 1973. So far there have been 26 leaders, including two other Spaniards, Carlos Moyá and Juan Carlos Navarro. The first was the Romanian Ilie Nastase, and the last outside the Big Three, Andy Murray. Djokovic, Federer and Nadal also fight to be the ones with the most Grand Slam titles.

The first has already 18 the other two, 20. In total trophies, the best is the Swiss with 103, followed by the Spanish (86) and the Balkan (82). The three will likely meet again at the Miami Masters 1,000, more than a year after they last shared a tournament, at the 2020 Australian Open.
