No rush with Fati: he is expected by the end of April

Although Xavi Hernández assured this Wednesday at a press conference that Ansu Fati was in the final stretch of his recovery and that he hoped to see him again soon in training, the truth is that the young Blaugrana striker still has a long way to go to be discharged.

As AS has learned, the roadmap has not changed one iota Regarding the planned plans, despite the fact that his recovery, which he is carrying out in Madrid under the supervision of his trusted physio, Joaquín Juan Sandá, is going from strength to strength. From the club, the player was already informed that there would be practically no difference in the discharge time between the operating room or conservative therapy, making it very clear that the minimum time would be two and a half months. Furthermore, it was explained that the risk of relapse was greater if no surgery was performedso it could be possible that it could end up being extended up to three months, to make sure that the scar was 100% consolidated.

Taking into account that he broke the femoral biceps of his left leg on January 20, during the Cup match against Athletic, his return will not take place, in the best of cases, until well into April. And it is that he is not expected to start training with the group in the short term -the best forecasts are that he will do so after the match against Real Madrid on March 20 and taking advantage of the national team break-, but from now on he will have ahead three more weeks of training with the group, with different workloads and intensity, so we will easily leave at the end of April.

Both doctors and technicians they are very clear that they will manage his injury with the utmost caution and under the motto ‘zero risk’. Right now the squad has ‘overbooking’ of forwards and does not have the need to force anyone. The priority is to avoid a third relapse at all costs, so prudence and patience will be the pillars with which the club works.

In fact, the main objective is for Fati to finish the season feeling like a footballer again, playing some games and, above all, gaining enough confidence to face next season at the same level as the rest of his teammates.
