No fan invasion, but Eintracht beat West Ham

There was no invasion of Eintracht Frankfurt fans at the London Stadium like the one that occurred at the Camp Nou, since West Ham managed to prevent it, but the German team won the first leg of the Europa League semifinals on Thursday against David Moyes’ team (1-2). The ‘hammers’ will have to come back on the return leg this May 5 if they want to fulfill their dream of being in the final on the 18th at the Sánchez Pizjuán.

Eintracht Frankfurt, who knocked out Barcelona in the quarterfinals, took the lead at London Stadium in the first minute of play. He did so thanks to a goal from Ansgar Knauff, who took advantage of a great assist from Rafael Santos Borré, beating Pablo Fornals.

David Moyes’ team immediately looked for a reaction against an Eintracht that was better in the first quarter of an hour. Jarrod Bowen crashed the ball into the post. And it was Michail Antonio, with a header, who equalized in minute 21, taking advantage of a ball from Kurt Zouma.

However, in the second half Eintracht Frankfurt went ahead again. It was Daichi Kamada who put the 1-2 on the scoreboard, after taking advantage of a rebound in the 54th minute. Kamada himself was able to achieve the third for the German team, but he crashed the ball into the post. Oliver Glasner, coach of Eintracht, lost Jesper Lindstrom in the 62nd minute due to injury.

Despite the great performance of their captain, Declan Rice, who kept his team’s hopes alive, the ‘hammers’ could not take advantage of the chances they had to level the score. Already in added time Bowen carried out a spectacular bicycle kick, but the ball crashed into the crossbar.
