Nishikori will not play again in 2020 after his injury at Roland Garros

Japanese tennis player Kei Nishikori announced on Thursday that he is retiring from the remainder of the season because of the injury he suffered to his right shoulder during the recent Roland Garros it still causes you discomfort and you want to recover 100%.

“I have decided to end my year,” wrote Nishikori in a message shared on his official Japanese app, in which he explained: “My shoulder still bothers me a bit, so I have decided to skip Paris and Sofia and focus on 2021. This coming year is important. Thank you for all your support and I will see you soon”.

The Japanese athlete, 30 years old, suffered a right shoulder injury in a five-set loss in the second round of the French Open to Italian Stefano Travaglia.

The number 37 of the ATP world rankings, which had surgery on his right elbow in October 2019, had returned to the pigs in September at the Australian Kitzbühel Tournament after testing positive for COVID-19 in August, which left him out of the Cincinnati Masters and the US Open.

“I'm excited to be back on the court, but I also have to make sure I'm 100% when I play. Coming back after elbow surgery was not easy. and I had some ups and downs as expected, “said Nishikori in his message, picked up by the Japanese news agency Kyodo.
