Nico and Gavi will have a first team card in January

FC Barcelona is studying the formula of registering Nico and Gavi as first team players this January. This means that their current contracts have to be urgently reviewed to adapt them to the first team. In the case of Gavi it seems that the resolution is very close -his clause of 50 million euros is now a candy for any club in Europe-, while A rapprochement with Nico is planned in the next few days to close his new contract. Both will have a clause of one billion, at the level of Fati and Pedri.

In any case, the club has to study the ‘modus operandi’: it currently has three tokens released, after the withdrawal of Kun Agüero. Taking into account that Davi Alves will be discharged on January 1, there will be two places to fill. If you are also talking about a minimum of two reinforcements to come, that means that, at least two players are due out this winter. Obviously, the best positioned to leave the club are Luuk de Jong, Yusuf Demir and Sergiño Dest.

Xavi’s rush to enroll Nico and Gavi in the first team is not only because they have done well enough to deserve it, but because A regulation of the RFEF requires that there be a minimum of seven players from the first team on the field of play. This implies that the maximum number of affiliate players that can coincide on the field is four. This rule is made so that teams that do not play anything on the last day do not devalue the competition, lining up a team full of substitutes and team players, but it also prevents the progression of young talents.

Xavi himself acknowledged that on the day of Elche he was about to breach this regulation and that it was the delegate Carles Naval who gave him notice, being forced to change plans at the last minute, since such an error would have meant an improper alignment and the automatic loss of the match.

In principle it is only planned that Nico and Gavi ‘sign’ for the first team. The other affiliate players who are pushing very hard like Abde, Ilias, Jutglà and Balde will have to wait.
