NFL Week 15 Top Rankings: The Cowboys are a real threat for the Super Bowl, and the Browns have made a huge jump with Joe Flacco.
Over the past few years, it’s become popular to make fun of Mike McCarthy or Dak Prescott for not being able to win major games in Dallas.
The truth is that McCarthy continually proved to be a better coach than the football cult on social media made him look.
He is currently calling plays for the 10–3 Cowboys, who are currently tied for the lead in the NFC East. That’s showing in a big way.
On Sunday night, the Cowboys beat the Eagles 33–13, which was their first win over a team with a winning record. This proved many doubters wrong and calmed many fans’ worries.
McCarthy taught just a few days after having surgery to remove his appendix. This shows how passionate and tough he is, which is something most people are unaware of about him.
It’s not McCarthy’s play-calling that’s changed the Cowboys’ offense the most this season; it’s the person who makes it all work.
Prescott has been great, and he could win the league MVP award. Since October 8, when the 49ers blew out the Cowboys, Prescott has passed 23 touchdowns and only two interceptions. He now has 28 touchdowns, which is the most in the NFL.
In that time, Dallas has prevailed in seven of eight games. They might have won eight of eight if not for some mistakes late in the Foxboro loss in early November.
A lot of people thought that McCarthy would lead a more run-heavy approach when he took over as head coach this year.
McCarthy told me that wasn’t going to happen when I told him about it at the league meetings in March of last year. He laughed about it.
The story went viral, even though anyone who knows McCarthy’s past knows that’s not his style. The Cowboys have given up on the idea that they are a run-heavy team for a long time.
Early in the season, it did look like the attack wasn’t working together. Things changed after that. As soon as the line got better, Prescott moved into a zone, and outside wide CeeDee Lamb became a real star.
This is a great time for the Cowboys’ attack. Everything seems to be going well. They now have to go on the road to play the Buffalo Bills in a big game.
Because the Eagles beat them so badly, Dallas moved up to No. 2 in my Power Rankings this week.
There is a good chance that the Cowboys will make a real run at the Super Bowl. Their offense can score goals and their pass rush can make things very hard for rival quarterbacks when they are ahead.
This is still possible for the Cowboys as long as the Eagles lose at least one more game. It will be interesting to see how they do in the playoffs, even if they have to play away games. Prescott has shown so far that he is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.
The critics are wrong, thanks to McCarthy and Prescott. All of this won’t matter if the Cowboys lose in the playoffs, though. This is what it means to be the Dallas Cowboys.
In Week 14, the NFL got a lot more exciting. As the last month in the regular season approaches, the results are getting closer as some expected teams fall and others rise to the top. A lot about the playoff picture across both conferences remains not clear.
There are a few strong teams in the NFC, but it’s more about where they stand in the last few games to win their divisions or make the wild card. There are a lot of teams in the AFC that have neither seven or eight wins.
Buffalo worked together to win as a team. In the last few weeks, the Bills’ defense has been much better than it was at the beginning of the year. That trend continued against the Steelers.
Pittsburgh’s running backs only gained 47 yards on 17 runs, thanks to a tough defensive line play.
This is the fourth occasion in five games that Buffalo has kept an opponent in 100 yards in the ground.
And the team’s pass defense did a great job, too. They held Ben Roethlisberger to 187 yards upon 37 attempts and picked him off twice. Taron Johnson returned one of the interceptions for a score.
