Newcomer Veijer takes Moto3 pole at the Red Bull Ring

MADRID, 19 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The young Dutch rider Collin Veijer (Husqvarna) took pole position this Saturday in the Moto3 category for the Austrian Grand Prix, the tenth round of the Motorcycle World Championship, while Jaume Masià (Honda) was the best of the Spaniards due to his fourth place on the grid.

Thanks to his best time of 1:41.486 at Spielberg’s Red Bull Ring, rookie Veijer took the best position out of the 18 drivers who contested Q2. To complete this list, from Q1 the Japanese Ryusei Yamanaka (GasGas), his compatriot Taiyo Furusato (Honda), the Italian Matteo Bertelle (Honda) and the Spanish Iván Ortolá (KTM) had previously qualified.

But in front of all of them Veijer gave the surprise, becoming the first ‘rookie’ in the Moto3 displacement to get pole position this season. In addition, the man from the Netherlands thus managed to be the fifth different driver to occupy the privileged position on the grid this year.
