Newcastle turns off the tap

During the last winter transfer market, the purchase of Newcastle by the Saudi fund had become effective, the Magpies disbursed around 102M euros in transfers, in addition to the hiring of Eddie Howe. Bruno Guimarães (€42M), Chris Wood (€30M), Kieran Trippier (€15M) and Dan Burn (€15M), as well as the loan of Matt Targett, arrived at St. James’ Park with the aim of removing Newcastle of relegation places. The first big investment of the new owners of the club, but not the last. However, and although once they have achieved permanence this season in the Premier League, the objective of the ‘nouveau riche’ in England will be to aspire to higher levels, the sports management of the Magpies will not have a blank check for the next additions.

As reported exclusively by the British newspaper Telegraph“following preliminary hiring meetings involving chief scout Steve Nickson, head coach Eddie Howe and board member Amanda Staveley – who is acting as executive director in the absence of an official appointment to fill that vacancy – , Newcastle are not planning a spending splurge in the summer.”. That means that the English team has ruled out a wave of signings during the next summer, as well as the incorporation of ‘superstars’ of the size of Neymar, since it is expected “a transfer budget that is likely to be less than the £90m spent in January”. In this way, the one who promised to be the great agitator of the next transfer market will have a more restrained role

“Newcastle have been credited with interest in some of the world’s most coveted and expensive players since their acquisition by a Saudi-led consortium last October, but those deals are not going to happen.”, adds this medium, hence the news broadcast in England in which Newcastle was related to offers of 200M pounds to incorporate the Brazilian star of Paris Saint-Germain “amused” the new owners of the Magpies. Newcastle’s big signings will come, and sooner than later some new addition will unseat Joelinton’s 44M euros as the most expensive signing in the club’s historybut we will still have to wait.
