Eddie Howe has become the new coach of the ‘new’ Newcastle on Monday, recently acquired by a Saudi Arabian investment fund. The ‘magpies’ have made official the arrival to the bench of the English coach, who this weekend already witnessed the duel against Brighton (1-1) live.
The former Bournemouth has signed a contract for the remainder of the season and two more, until June 2024.
“Newcastle United are delighted to confirm the appointment of Eddie Howe as the club’s new manager with a contract until the summer of 2024,” the Newcastle statement said.
Howe, 43, has the difficult task of resuscitating a Newcastle that is second to last in the Premier with just 5 points and still does not know what it is to win this season.
“It is a great honor to become the manager of a club with the stature and history of Newcastle United. It is a very proud day for me and my family,” Howe said in his first black and white statements.
“This is a wonderful opportunity, but there is also a lot of work ahead and I am looking forward to getting into training camp to start working with the players,” he added.
Newcastle became one of the richest clubs in the world this season after the acquisition of the team by a Saudi fund.
His landing will allow the ‘magpies’ to be able to undertake investments in transfers, starting with this winter market, where it is expected that the workforce will be strengthened to avoid the decline.
