New trial in sight for Dani Alves: the footballer has been accused of stealing music from two composers

Dani Alves enjoys provisional freedom. The footballer left Brians 2 prison on March 25, where he was admitted in January 2023 for raping a young woman in a nightclub. While awaiting the final sentence for sexual abuse, the former FC Barcelona player has another open front: Alves will be tried in Brazil (his native country) in the coming weeks after being accused of stealing music from two compatriot composers.

The cause of the complaint is the song Avião, a song that Dani Alves published in 2020 within the framework of a project for the UN with the aim of “fighting misinformation around the coronavirus pandemic.” The authors of the topic, Giuliano y Thiagoclaim authorship of the lyrics, as published this Friday by the Brazilian media UOL.

“Dani Alves fraudulently excluded the names of the true creators. In other words, to carry out a campaign against fake news, the UN used a false work of authorship,” the alleged authors of the song stated in the lawsuit. Likewise, Giuliano Matheus revealed that the song was written by himself in honor of his grandfather.

For its part, the Brazilian’s defense flatly denies the facts. “The work was designed solely and exclusively by Daniel Alves. “The lyrics of the song are not even remotely related to paying tribute to someone’s grandfather,” they say.

The accused will have to respond to Brazilian justice by videoconference. During his period of provisional release, the athlete is prohibited from leaving Spain.
