Nevenka Fernández makes a surprise appearance at the San Sebastian festival and the audience greets her with a huge ovation

Nevenka Fernández starred in an emotional moment this Saturday at the San Sebastian Festival. The economist attended the premiere of I am Nevenkaa film directed by Start Bollarín which tells of the sexual harassment she suffered from Ismael Alvarezthen mayor of Ponferrada.

When Nevenka was present at the screening of the film, the spectators in the screening room paid tribute to the Ponferradina with a standing ovation.

For his part, Fernández, who attended the premiere with Mireia Oriol, actress who plays Nevenka; Urko Olazábal, actor who plays Ismael Álvarez; Icíar Bollaín, director of the film, was moved by the immense affection of the public.

It should be remembered that Nevenka Fernández was the first woman to publicly denounce a case of sexual and workplace harassment against a politician. In 2000, while working as a Finance Councillor at Ponferrada City Hall, she accused the then mayor Ismael Álvarez of harassment. Her brave complaint set a precedent in the country and opened an important debate on harassment in the political sphere.
