Nestor Pitana will referee the final of the Copa Libertadores

The Argentinian Nestor Pitana is the chosen one to referee the final of the Liberators cup football, which will be played on November 27 in Montevideo the Brazilians palm trees and Flamengo, announced this Wednesday the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol).

The referee will be seconded by his compatriots Juan Belatti and Gabriel Chade, while the referee in charge of the VAR will be the Chilean Julio Bascuñán.

Likewise, the assistants in the video arbitration will be the Argentine Germán Delfino, the Colombian Alexander Guzmán together with the Uruguayans Leodán González and Darío Ubríaco, while the Quality Manager will be the Chilean Carlos Astroza.

From November 20 Uruguay will be at the center of sports attention on the continent as a result of the celebration in Montevideo of the three main finals in South America: The South American Cup and the men’s and women’s Libertadores Cups.

Both final instances of the men’s branch will take place in the mythical Centenario stadium, venue of the first World Cup in history (1930), while the women’s Libertadores will take place in the Gran Parque Central stadium.

These duels awaken the expectation of the authorities in the face of the massive arrival of tourists – since the country’s borders will reopen on November 1 after almost two years closed – and also puts an eye on security, since a wave of Brazilian fans is expected -mainly of the historical ones Flamengo and palm trees-.

In addition, this Monday the Uruguayan National Sports Secretariat confirmed the expansion to 75% of the capacity allowed in the stadiums, so that the fans who will be able to access the finals will be about 45,000. The Centennial Stadium will host the final of the Copa Sudamericana between the Brazilians on November 20 Atletico Paraná and Red Bull Bragantino and, a week later, that of the Libertadores between the palm trees and the Flamengo, while the final of the women’s Libertadores – of which the teams are still unknown – will be on November 21 in the Gran Parque Central.
