Nephew surpasses uncle

It is a pure and simple statistic and their roles in the team are not the same, but the truth is that Abdón Prats, forward, has surpassed the number of matches of his uncle, the exporter Toni Prats, wearing the Majorcan shirt.

Abdon jumped onto Anoeta’s pitch to play last Saturday the last fourteen minutes of the game that his team lost to Real Sociedad thus reaching 152 presences on a pitch with the vermilion jersey.

The Mallorcan striker, born in the town of Artà, played for five seasons in the Mallorcan subsidiary between 2010 and 2015. For his part, his uncle Toni Prats, a prominent goalkeeper in Spanish football since the early nineties, wore the Majorcan jersey in two stages, the first between 1991 and 1995 and the second, before retiring, between 2005 and 2007, playing between both stages in the ranks of Celta Y Betis. After his second spell at Mallorca, Toni Prats played seven games in the ranks of Hercules before being forced to retire due to a disc injury.

He briefly went through the offices of Son Moix as sports director and director of the Majorcan youth academy to end up leaving the Balearic club.

Abdon has already accumulated 152 games against the 151 that the Capdepera goalkeeper played. The difference between the way to reach one figure and the other is that Toni was the undisputed starter in the goal while Abdon enters and leaves the line-ups and he has been left without playing in many games.
