NBA debut of Victor Wembanyama: live updates, highlights, scores, how to watch, TV station

It’s now or never. The most anticipated NBA prospect since LeBron James, Victor Wembanyama, will play in his first regular-season game on Wednesday night both the San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Mavericks play in the 2023–24 season opener for both clubs. The ESPN broadcast of the game is scheduled to begin at 9:30 p.m. ET.

More than a year has passed since Wembanyama’s debut, particularly following two exhibition games during the Las Vegas region in October of last year where he faced off against Scoot Henderson, another top 2023 NBA Draft candidate.

Before traveling to the United States for the June draft and participating in the NBA preseason and Las Vegas Summer League, Wembanyama shone in his games in the French League.

He continued to add highlights after every timeout, frequently performing feats that are unusual for an NBA basketball court.

This season, all eyes are going to be on San Antonio and Wembanyama, and it all begins on Wednesday. For live coverage of Wembanyama’s NBA debut, featuring highlights, results, and more, follow Yahoo Sports.

Victor Wembanyama is set to have a great rookie season if his preseason performance is any guide.

Crazy nutmegs, mind-blowing dunks, and wild blocks Wembanyama engaged in a wide range of activities.

In four preseason games for the Spurs, the French sensation lived up to the expectations, averaging 19.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, with 2.8 blocks per game in addition to putting on numerous incredible moments.

a much awaited start to the regular season on Wednesday night. San Antonio will play a team headlined by Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic, a formidable tandem in Dallas.

It’s fairly clear. Victor has been the focus of a lot of people’s attention for quite some time, and this will not change.

Luckily for us, he’s a fairly responsible, self-aware young guy who understands what he wants.

He’s skilled already. Nike dubbed Wembanyama “The Extraterrestrial” because of his extraordinary play.

He used his eight-foot wingspan to block 3-pointers during preseason play, and he euro-stepped from the line for free throws to the hoop in two steps without dribbling.

Victor Wembanyama Makes History with First NBA Points

With an impressive long-range shot, Wembanyama got his first NBA point in a manner befitting his great talent.

During the opening five minutes in his debut, he also demonstrated his defensive abilities via two rebounding with a strong block.

Wembanyama’s achievement was just the start; in the first quarter, he demonstrated his versatility in the court with another three-pointer. Sadly, he was substituted out after picking up two fouls.

Wembanyama made his debut in the game and finished with six points, three rebounds, one assist, and a single block in 12 minutes of action, while having some limits due to foul trouble in the first half.

I’m hoping we actually implement the “last step” concept. Because the Mavericks now lead by one point after Luka Dončić unleashed among the most nasty final motions that I have witnessed to halt a dime on one of his legs and set up a 3-point play.

Wembanyama expressed from his Paris offices that he was somewhat relieved that the number one was not for the Houston Rockets.

He also expressed genuine joy at finally landing with the Spurs, a legitimate and well-respected team, especially with Gregg Popovich leading the way.

It’s the perfect place to go. And a team that has consistently shown great consideration for individuals who are not Americans, such as French stars like Tony Parker and Boris Diaw.

Thus, all in all, the Le Chesnay-born centre had a very satisfying evening. But the Dallas Mavericks are another Texas-based team which he would have been happy to join, according to ESPN’s ambassador special to Paris, Brian Windhorst.
