“It was killing me,” he says with the relief of someone who looks back and sees that he has managed to control an addiction that was consuming him. When recalling that stage of her life, the 53-year-old supermodel confessed that she turned to cocaine because her childhood was linked to loneliness, since she grew up without knowing her father and without being able to see her mother. she.

Years later, when he managed to get used to that emptiness, he suffered the loss of his friend and haute couture designer, Gianni Versacemurdered on July 15, 1997. “He was very delicate with my feelings, but he pushed me to take another step forward and go further when I thought I had no more strength to do so. Naomi, who had already dabbled in drugs, collapsed during a photo shoot in 1999. “When you’re trying to cover something (your feelings) we’re talking about abandonment,” she confesses in the docuseries.

Campbell hit rock bottom and began a race toward recovery. For her, step one was going to therapy. “It was killing me, it was very painful. I chose to go to rehab, it was one of the best and most important decisions I could have made for myself at that time,” she admits.

“It has taken me many years to work and be able to face it,” he said. “Sometimes it still comes back, but now I have the tools to combat it when it comes up.”
