Nadal returns to training

MADRID, 18 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The tennis player Rafa Nadal, current number four in the world, has returned to training this Monday after a month away from the courts due to a stress crack in the third left costal arch, and has begun his preparation for his return to the circuit, which could take place at the Mutua Madrid Open.

“Today, after 4 weeks without stepping on a tennis court, first soft training. What an illusion to step on the ground again!”, wrote the Balearic on the social network Twitter along with two photographs in which he is seen training on a court on clay.

On March 22, Nadal confirmed that he had been injured during the Indian Wells semifinals against Carlos Alcaraz, a mishap that interrupted his great start to the year. The estimated time for his return to sports activity was four to six weeks, as determined by his medical team, led by Dr. Ángel Ruiz-Cotorro.

The man from Manacor has missed the start of the clay court season and did not participate in the Monte Carlo tournament (Monaco), the third Masters 1,000 of the season. In addition, last week he also announced that he would not arrive in time to play the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell-69th Conde de Godó Trophy, in which he was defending the title.

Thus, the sights of the Balearic could be set on the Mutua Madrid Open, the fourth Masters 1,000 and WTA 1,000 of the year and which is held at the Caja Mágica in the Spanish capital from April 26 to May 8, just after the sixth week scheduled for recovery.
