Nadal: “I’m enjoying the moment, I’m playing well”

MADRID, 11 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish tennis player Rafa Nadal highlighted the ability he has had to “adapt” his game to the challenges of an unbeatable 2022, with a 15-0 record, three titles, which invites him to “enjoy the moment” in search of following the streak in Indian Wells.

“I’ve been here for more than a week. I always enjoy it. It’s one of my favorite tournaments without a doubt. I go day by day, I enjoy the moment. It’s unexpected for me to be in this position, so I’m enjoying every day and enjoying that I’m playing. well. I’ve already won three titles this year and it’s incredible for me,” said a Nadal on Thursday who will debut in the American tournament against the Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis or the local Sebastian Korda.

The three-time champion appeared at a press conference in Indian Wells with the optimism of a full 2022, which he arrived with many doubts after six months without competing and a foot operation. “I’ve always managed to find a way to adapt my game when I’ve needed to improve. Some days I’ve played aggressive and other days I’ve played a little more defensive and more tactical,” he said.

“My serve is working well, which is important at this point in my career. Afterwards, I think I have been brave to play with the right determination when it has been necessary. I am working hard to improve, but I am happy with the level of tennis and of intensity that I am showing on the track”, he added about the key points to have the level and the results.

Nadal confessed that this foot injury made him suffer last year, to reach a 2022 in which he has lifted titles in Melbourne, Acapulco and, above all, his 21st ‘Grand Slam’ with the conquest of the Australian Open. “I tried to be positive. Last year we didn’t do running or movement work,” he said.

“After Roland Garros I couldn’t walk for two weeks. I wasn’t ready for Washington or Toronto but I wanted to try, with two terrible months of training. Winning the Australian Open was very important, but being competitive and enjoying the competition was what was really important. exciting for me, to be able to play in a big stadium with fans again.”
