Spanish tennis player Rafa Nadal described as “important” his return to competition this week at the Melbourne ATP 250 tournament, where he will play the final after beating Finn Emil Ruusuvuori on Saturday.
“It is an important comeback after five months without competing, it means a lot to me to be back in Australia”, said after the match a Nadal happy with his return to the tracks and that he will face the American Maxime Cressy for the title.
However, the one from Manacor recognized that he still has a lot of room for improvement, that he needs matches and that he is going “step by step”, without much less thinking about the Australian Open. “I have to do better things on the track, but it is to go step by step,” he confessed.
“My body is responding well and that is the most important thing. I need matches to be 100% again. I know that my tennis is not perfect, but I have to be patient and do my best,” he concluded.
